Final Chance to Enter Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Contest

Visit www.Collegiate.com to Win a Free Semester of College Tuition

SPRINGFIELD, MA, August 2007—“Tuition madness” has been spreading across campuses throughout North America since Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Contest was first announced last month. Since that time, thousands of students have been testing their lexicographical skills and logging on to www.Collegiate.com for a chance to win a grand prize of a free semester of college tuition. Any resident of the U.S. or Canada enrolled in a 2- or 4-year college who is at least 18 years old is eligible to enter by filling out an easy online registration form and answering ten not-so-easy dictionary-related multiple choice questions. But time is running out! The last day to enter the Collegiate Contest is Sunday, September 30, 2007—so grab that dictionary and join the madness!

Along with the grand prize of free college tuition, Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Contest provides the chance to win a host of great loot, including a notebook computer and a 30GB iPod digital player. In addition, winners will receive a number of fine reference products from the company’s distinguished partners and licensees including Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition on CD-ROM courtesy of Innovative Knowledge; Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary for iPod digital player courtesy of iPREPpress, and Merriam-Webster’s Word Sweep! board game courtesy of Intellinitiative.

“The Collegiate Contest has been a great opportunity to reach out to students who are searching for reliable language information – and a little extra cash for school,” said Hillary Hoffman, Director of Marketing for Merriam-Webster Inc.  “We’re pleased with the response we’ve received to date, and we look forward to announcing our grand prize winner in October!”

Although no purchase is necessary to enter or win Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Contest, visitors to www.Collegiate.com will have the opportunity to receive a special rebate on select Merriam-Webster titles. The contest site also provides direct links to a number of popular free features of Merriam-Webster OnLine (www.Merriam-Webster.com), including the Merriam-Webster Toolbar, for quick look-ups, Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day, for daily HTML e-mails, and Merriam-Webster’s Open Dictionary—where visitors submit their own new words and definitions.
